My research focuses on marine biogeochemistry and ecosystem-based fisheries modelling, linking lower trophic level dynamics to fish populations using ecosystem bioenergetics approaches to investigate how nutrient cycling, plankton productivity, and environmental variability influence the structure and functioning of marine ecosystems and fisheries. My work involves the development and application of a multispecies numerical model for small pelagic fishes in the Indian Ocean EEZ to better understand trophic level interactions, species distribution, and migration dynamics under varying oceanographic conditions. One of the key aspects of includes parameterization and integration of biogeochemical and environmental variables, particularly dissolved oxygen, into ecosystem models to improve the representation of climate-driven changes and their impacts on marine ecosystems and fishery resources.
