Dr. Faseela Hamza is a Ph.D. in Biotechnology with a Master's degree in Fishery Oceanography. She is currently working on developing Fishery models from the Indian Ocean, with a particular focus on Indian Ocean Sardines. She has developed a NEMURO-FISH module for Indian Ocean Sardines. This model simulates the net wet-weight of Sardine for a given input of Phytoplanktons and zooplanktons as output from the NEMURO model. She has worked on the last 60 years landing variability of Indian Ocean sardines on the west coast of India. Her research shows that the western Indian coast Oil Sardine landing is related to large-scale climate variabilities such as Pacific Decadal Oscillations and Atlantic Multi-decadal Oscillations.
