Contributions to Society
Dr. Vinu Valsala is currently the Program Director of Development of Skilled Manpower in Earth System Sciences (DESK-ESSC) of India's Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES). Program's core commitments are to train and develop the nation's human resources in line with the ministry's research objectives in Earth Sciences.
The Program produces PhDs equipped in cutting edge research and technology in Earth Sciences.
We support training on targeted areas in the Earth System Sciences. We conduct workshops/seminars/conferences for the benefit of human resources development in the nation.
Our research contributes to the general understanding of the physical oceanography, climate sciences, ocean carbon cycle, marine ecosystem variability and fisheries. We are developing tools for the prediction of marine biomass in the ocean environment. This work is ongoing, and results will be made available as deliverables from our lab.
