ODTM Stands for Ocean Dynamic Thermodynamic Model. It is a reduced gravity layered model embedded with very high vertical resolution mixed layer model based on Mellor and Yamada (1982) Level-2 Turbulent Clusure mixed layer model. The hydrodynamic code was developed in Valsala (2009), further added Thermodynamic part in Valsala et al. (2018). A video manual on 'how to run the model' is available here'.
<-- Schematic of the model with five active layers and bottom quiescent layer. The mixed layer model (MLM) is shown as constant levels for total depth Zm. (bottom) A schematic of velocity profiles for MLM parameterized from divergence of RGM layers.
Applications of ODTM
1. Tropical Oceanography
2. Simulation of dynamic-thermodynamic properties for tropical oceans
3. Regional Oceanography
4. Mixed Layer-Barrier Layer studies
5. Boundary currents and Eddies
6. Coupling with Ocean Biogeochemistry and Carbon Cycle
