!!! OTTM !!!
Group Head
OTTM Stands for Ocean Tracer Transport Model. It is an offline model for the global as well as regional oceanography run with predetermined currents and other essential physical parameters.

The essential parameters to run the OTTM are the 4-Dimensional ocean circulation, temperature, salinity, 3-Dimensional ocean surface forcing parameters such as wind, mixed layer depth, short waver radiation, longwave radiation, precipitation, evaporation, and outgoing longwave radiation           (Read more ...)

Rotation of an Ideal Tracer from Pole-to-Pole using Sphere Rotating currents in 2D as simulated by OTTM.
Applications of OTTM
  1. Dispersion of dye in the ocean. This can be used to find pollution transport in the ocean such as oil-spillage.
  2. Dispersion of biological elements such as Larvae, microbial and fish-eggs.
  3. Identifying a suitable location in the ocean for waste material dumping from where they never or least surfaces after a disposal. This can be used in artificial carbon sequestration projects.
  4. Biogeochemistry and Carbon cycle simulations of global oceans.
  5.  Adjoints and variational data assimilation.
